True Heroes, also known as Light Lords and Good Overlords, refers to benevolent leaders who are the opposite to Dark Lords.
Overview[]
Dark Lord's traditional archenemies are true heroes; a person who lives to help others, but in a way that shows those people how to help themselves, in the face of danger, combats adversity through impressive feats of ingenuity, bravery or strength, often sacrificing their own personal concerns for a greater good. In addition of love to spread freedom, redemption, and hope to others that are wrongfully enslaved by evil rulers even towards the evil rulers themselves, they possess benevolent abilities and often command loyal friends, allies, and followers. Some of them further contrasted tyrants they fight against by being fair rulers who hold dominion over sizable land possess great power and resources as much as the latter, at times often depicted as an angelical force, and may indeed be more a force than a personality as they often personify good itself. At this point, they become Light Lords (or Light Lady if True Hero in question being female).
Not surprisingly, the effects of True Heroes' rule upon becoming Light Lord/Light Lady often assert benign effects on the land as well as their subjects. Besides their usual magical abilities, they often control great armies. In particular, it is used as a moniker in universes where it is thought that pronouncing the hero's real name will bring good luck or represents a positive omen.
Benevolent Rulers and True Heroes are from different concept of authority, though they sometimes overlap. Indeed, not all heroes who qualified to be a Light Lord/True Hero are keen with the idea of becoming the former yet nonetheless ready to help their people in times of great crisis.
