The R-11B Peace Maker is the main protagonist of the 1991 shoot 'em up Cosmic Cop. It is a unique R-Craft that is specifically made for the Armed Police Unit. Unlike most R-Crafts, it lacks a Force Device and Bits, thus it relies heavily on its primary and secondary weapons as an essential alternative. Of all R-11 series and variants, Peace Maker is the most successful model.
History[]

R-11B Peace Maker was created and issued to a private security organization known as the Armed Police Unit for the purpose of urban operation and law enforcement. Then came a day Peace Maker's ability to perform urban pacification would be severely tested: around the same time as the events in R-Type Delta unfold, Armed Police Unit is given a dangerous assignment: to hunt down and pacify a hostile group of renegade vehicles called the "Mad Cars" that have been corrupted by Bydo (culprits being unknown at the time), resulting in them running mad. Assigned to this task is a unique R-Craft called the R-11B Peace Maker, which is equip with a unique weapon: a lock-on laser that can track down nearby enemies. Utilizing these weapons, the R-11B is subsequently deployed to tack down the "Mad Cars".
In spite of it being an aircraft for civilian tasks rather than military missions, the R-11B travels across five areas dubbed "Zones" where it encounters members of the "Mad Cars" and proceeds to destroy their forces, alongside their commanders. After clearing the city of these fiends, the craft travels deep within a cave and later a maze-like labyrinth where it confronts the leader of the group: the Mad Car Mothership. Though the giant ship is well armed with regenerable turrets that constantly fire upon the tiny craft, the R-11B manages to destroy the mothership, before escaping the maze.
But the battle wasn't over yet...
After a brief break from combat, the R-11B is deployed a second time to battle the "Mad Cars" after the enemy somehow rebuilds its forces (thus starting a second loop of the game from the first stage). The R-11B is forced to fight its way once again through all the "Mad Cars"' forces, eventually it confronts the mothership for a second time and destroys it once more, this time for good. After the battle, the R-11B returns back onto its cruiser. The pilot is subsequently commended by the Armed Police Unit for their heroism, and as a reward, they are given a well-deserved vacation, while reminded to prepare for the next assignment in the foreseeable future.
About 15 years later (R-Type Final), a classified archive revealed that events in Cosmic Cop were to be called "Demon Seed Crisis". The archive states that Bydo is the one engineered the Demon Seed Crisis by infesting machines, but this truth was prevented from public as well as agents of Armed Police Unit. Instead it was reported to the mainstream media as mass rampage of automated machines gone wild. The reason for mumming about Bydo being the mastermind of Demon Seed Crisis remains unknown. In R-Type Final, R-11B was one of 101 R Crafts participated in what is to be the ultimate human-Bydo conflict known as Operation Last Dance.
Weapons[]

Similar to the R-9 Leo, the R-11B stands out from other R-Crafts by the fact that it lacks a Force Device, however unlike the R-9 Leo, it also lacks Bits. Despite these "setbacks" however, the R-11B still possess a formidable arsenal of weapons. It possesses two primary weapons that can be upgraded twice via "P" power-ups, and is capable of using an assortment of secondary weapons by means of obtaining "M" power-ups; these secondary weapons however can be lost if the R-11B is hit by enemy fire or rams into a wall.
- Plasma Vulcan - a standard, rapid-fire cannon that can eliminate most small enemies easily, but requires additional firepower to eliminate larger ones. When upgraded, the number of shots fired increases.
- Lock-on Laser - fires a laser that locks onto the nearest enemy, gradually draining its health until it is destroyed. The Lock-on Laser has limited ammunition (as indicated by an energy bar), and will stop firing once the energy bar is depleted. It will slowly recharge while not in use; alternatively, it can also be recharge by obtaining "L" power-ups. When upgraded, the number of lasers fired increases.
- Anti-Air Missile - fires a single cruise missile below the craft, which proceeds to fly forward, creating a medium-sized explosion.
- Anti-Ground Missile - fires a barrage of missiles which fly down to the ground and travel along its surface, detonating whenever they make contact with an enemy.
- Napalm Bomb - fires a bomb in a 45 degree arc downwards in front or behind the craft, which upon exploding, creates a medium-sized explosion that deals splash damage to any enemy that is caught within its radius.
