The Kanzuki Estate is Karin Kanzuki's very own family estate which originally appeared in the Sakura Ganbaru! manga. It also appears as one of the main locations in Street Fighter V. The stage has two settings. Its day setting is called "Estate at Noon".
Description[]
The manga depicts the Kanzuki family's estate as so large, it does not just have its own rivers, mountains, and savannas, it has its own climate as well. Even though it's in the middle of Tokyo, visitors don't arrive by car, they arrive by chartered plane and land at the private airstrip near the mansion. The estate also has its own train station (a green and red sign can be seen on the top of a building, where a train is moving). The Kanzukis' enormous swimming pool has a yacht with a pool on the deck in it, like in Karin's stage from Street Fighter Alpha 3.
The estate's architecture is a mix of both Japanese and European (possibly French) architecture.
The left and right edges of the stage can cause special cinematic knockouts if the final blow is landed at the corners. On the left side, the character bursts and tumbles into the small room, crashing into one of the stands with samurai gear on them. As the character slumps in a seated position, the Kabuto helmet is sent up in the air, before landing on their head. Should another round begin afterwards, the character will start the round with the helmet on their head, which can be knocked off during the fight.
On the right side, the character tumbles into the muzzle of a large mokuhou (traditional Japanese wooden cannon) that's mounted on the side wall, which then pops out of the side of the Estate. The cannon is fired and the character is launched into the sky like fireworks.
Overview[]
At the Kanzuki Estate, Karin Kanzuki is informing her guests that an object known as the "Black Moon" has been spotted hovering above Tokyo about four hours ago. She tells her guests that Red Spider-Lily, the Kanzuki family's satellite, has been continuously monitoring the the Black Moon, even though it hasn't labeled as a threat yet.
While Karin discusses with business with the others, Ibuki and Birdie are lounging at a nearby table. As Birdie continues to gorge down a large plate full of chicken legs, Ibuki waits and watches her workmate eat with annoyance and boredom. She shifts her tedious attention toward the television screen on the wall; which briefly showcases the aftermath of a CWA wrestling match.
Later on, the TV screen that is showing the CWA tag team match has froze. The screen then goes into static, capturing the attention of almost every one in the estate; including Ibuki and Karin. As the head of the Kanzuki Zaibatsu gazes at the screen, she requests a report from her steward. Shibasaki states that a powerful electromagnetic pulse has ignited in New York (according to family's data processing department).
Karin steps outside and looks toward the night sky. She sees a mysterious satellite floating next to the moon; believing that the strange device is the one that caused the commotion. Shibasaki continues with his report; stating that one of the seven satellites has already been set off. He also reports that the family satellite, Red Spider-Lily, has also been affected and is out of commission. Karin reenters the estate and demands her steward a full report by the following morning. As she walks through the hallway, Ibuki gets out of her seat and follows behind. Karin punches her palm, sending a message to the one(s) responsible for the chaos.
Shibasaki walks with Karin on the front deck; giving her his report from the family ninjas. During the briefing, Rashid and Azam run down the rooftop of the facilities entrance and lands smoothly on the deck in front of Karin and her steward. Karin stands before the estate, pointing out the intruder's lack of etiquette. Getting down to business, Rashid asks Karin if she is in possession of a chess piece and if she can give it to him. Instead, Karin drops in her stance and challenges Rashids to fight her for the piece. Despite Rashid's skepticism, Karin proclaims the Kanzuki family motto; stating that one must get what they want from their own effort. Rashid cringes reluctantly, realizing that he has no choice but to take on the head of the Kanzuki.
Karin is victorious and puts Rashid in an armlock, thus ending the fight and rendering her opponent helpless. As Rashid struggles, Karin asks the intruder why he is trying to take the piece from her; believing that it is related to the Black Moons. Rashid then concedes, acknowledging Karin's wisdom and abilities. He then breaks free from Karin's grip, flips over her, and lands at a safe distance between them. Rashid then shows Karin the two chess pieces and promises that he has no intention of using them for evil. Afterwards, he and Azam exit the premises. With new revelations, Karin commands Shibasaki to contact the world's top-ranked fighters.
R. Mika and Ibuki are in the middle of an argument in which a confrontation may be looming. As the two continue bickering about who will win in a fight, Karin Kanzuki makes her way toward the outside of the estate where Cammy is waiting; thanking the Delta Red soldier for her patience. When Cammy asks Karin if she has any information from her resources, Karin shows her a sword-shaped chess piece. She then nods toward Shibasaki as her steward explain the current situation. Shibasaki informs Cammy that they were able to obtain a list of people that the pieces were sent to while currently investigating who else might have accessed the same list. Cammy then shares her information, explaining that Shadaloo used the supposedly kidnapped hackers to build the Black Moons as well as the pieces. Cammy also adds that Guile is in contact with a collogue who has infiltrated Shadaloo; hoping that more information will be available. Recognizing the importance of not letting Shadaloo obtain the pieces, she announces that their operation will commence pending Guile's return.
The two women sense enemies present and shift their attention toward the figures standing on the rooftop of the facilities entrance. A pair of Shadaloo soldiers, März, and Decapre (to the shock of Cammy) leap off of the entrance and infiltrate the Kanzuki Estate and drop in their stance with the mission to bring the piece(s) back to Shadaloo. As Cammy stares down Decapre, Karin steps before the opposition. She confidently gets in a defensive position, ready to teach the intruders a lesson.
Realizing that she is overmatched, März tries to escape. Karin vaults over the Doll and ands before her, cutting off her exit. Leaving her with no choice, März attempts to fight her way out. Karin effortlessly swats away a roundhouse kick and catches März's left hand punch. Using her opponent's momentum against them, Karin drops März on all fours while maintaining a hold on her left arm; preventing her from escaping. Her trademark laugh interrupts Ibuki's and R. Mika's scuffle. When Karin offers to fight the two them, Ibuki and R. Mika immediately separate and decline her proposal.
At the same time, Cammy has already taken out the pair of Shadaloo soldiers and has the defeated Decapre in a weakened state. As the Doll tries to get back to her feet, Cammy drops her guard to check on her opponent. Before Decapre can resume the fight, she clutches her head in pain and stumbles backwards; struggling to stay on her feet while using the estate's bridge guardrail to maintain balance. As Cammy looks on with concern, Decapre regains herself and springs back to the top of the rooftop. By the time Cammy can give chase, Decapre escapes from the facility. Even though she had successfully foiled Shadaloo's plan this time around, Cammy gazes at the ground; unhappy that she couldn't save her.
Later at the Kanzuki Estate, Guile walks into the dining room. Sitting patiently at one of the tables is Karin Kanzuki. Guile reports to Karin how the pieces are used to control the Black Moons, as well its program activates when the control device recognizes the piece. He also explains how the control pieces can be used to shut down the Black Moons. Karin predicts that the control device for the Black Moons is located at the Shadaloo Base. Guile finishes his report by handing Karin a sheet of paper that lists the people that the control pieces were sent to, warning her that Shadaloo will also be coming for them.
Soon, most of the gathered fighters assemble to discuss their next plan of action including Ken, Chun-Li, Zangief, and Dhalsim. After checking the list, Karin verifies with Zangief that he's one of the individuals that has received a control piece. Zangief confirms, but recalls that he left the package to a friend while he was on a wrestling tour. He volunteers to get the piece from his friend in India with Guile coming along with him. Karin then states that one of the pieces was sent to a wrestler in New York, while another one was sent to a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu artist. Dhalsim decides to go to New York after confirming that communication and transportation in the state is still down. Ken volunteers to go to Brazil. Chun-Li tells Ken that she, along with Cammy, will go with him. While the fighters will be retrieving the control pieces, Karin states that she, Ibuki, and R. Mika will scout around the Shadaloo Base.
With the operation to locate the remaining pieces already commencing, some of the fighters are resting and relaxing before departing. Ken's son, Mel, is also at the Kanzuki Estate and is excited to be with his father. Ken catches his son and picks him up in his arms, wondering why he is here rather than his mother. Mel complains that he wants to come along with his father, which makes Ken chuckle. He then sets Mel on the ground, pats his head, and makes a promise that they'll go together if his son can properly perform a Hadoken. Motivated, Mel thrust his palms towards his father as if he's performing the actual move. Even though he mispronounced the name, it was enough to make Ken react and laugh. He then tells Mel to promise to look after his mother while he is away; which he happily agrees.
As Ken and Mel continue to spend time with each other, Chun-Li walks away to give the family some space. She makes her way to the edge of the dining hall to chat with Cammy about how pleasant it is to watch Ken play with his son. Cammy then argues that it's better for Ken to stay and protect his family, rather than come along with them. However, Chun-Li understands Ken and acknowledges that some battles cannot be avoided when protecting someone; similar to her own father which causes her to grieve. Feeling guilty for inadvertently bringing up Chun-Li's father, Cammy turns the other way and apologizes; confused about the concept of family since she doesn't have one. Moments later, Karin appears before Chun-Li and Cammy. She informs them that most of the fighters have already departed and that she will leave soon with Ibuki and R. Mika. Karin bids her comrades farewell, saying that the next time they meet will be at the Shadaloo base.
Most of the fighters have left the Kanzuki Estate. Only Birdie remains to keep an eye on the prisoner, März. He guards the Doll inside the storage closet, noticing how quiet the area has become since everyone has departed for their missions to either retrieve the control pieces or to scout the Shadaloo Base. Unfortunately, with everyone else gone from the estate, there is no one to feed him. Birdie sulks at his empty plate, in which März notices. Birdie stares back at the Doll, momentarily frightening her. Still, she hesitantly offers the glutton her own plate of sandwiches which haven't been touched. When Birdie excited asks for confirmation, März nods.
However, this is merely a distraction. As März timidly watches and waits for Birdie to dig in, another Doll with red hair and a patch over her left eye kicks the man in the back to send him crashing face first into the wall. Aprile checks on her comrade for injuries and helps her remove the chains off of März's wrists so that they can make their escape. Birdie quickly recovers and dives over the two Dolls to cut off their exit route. März drops to her stance, while Aprile approaches the glutton looking unimpressed. Realizing that he won't receive any more food if the Doll(s) escape, Birdie is more determined than ever to make sure neither of them leave the estate.
Aprile collapses after being defeated by Birdie. However, before the glutton can celebrate, a third Doll sneaks up from behind and kicks the back of Birdie's leg to bring him down to a crouched position. Noembelu then delivers a vicious knee to Birdie's face to knock him to the ground and save the other two Dolls. The Native American woman coldly reports to Aprile and März that Enero is disappointed. The Dolls then make their escape, while Birdie grunts in pain on the ground.
Later in the night, Necalli lands on roof of the Kanzuki Estate, where Ryu was waiting for him. The two exchange blows in midair before descending onto ground level. Ryu drops in his stance and prepares to fight against the mysterious being. The Japanese warrior controls the Satsui no Hado within him to deliver the final blow that reverts Necalli back to his original state. Dhalsim reappears and demands Necalli to leave, which he does. Chun-Li, Ken, and Karin arrive and express approval when Ryu finally decides to join them.
