Falsion (ファルシオン in Japanese) is the titular protagonist of the 1987 Famicom shoot 'em up Falsion. Created by the United Space Force as one of many ships using the experimentally untested technology known as the Hyperzone Drive, it is tasked to stop an alien invasion that has mastered the same technology from conquering the Milky Way Galaxy.
History[]
In the year 21XX A.D., humanity has managed to colonize most planets found within the Milky Way Galaxy. Now with bigger ambitions, they turn to an experimental technology known as the Hyperzone Drive in order to expand their reach to other galaxies. However, a major obstacle soon appears in the form of an alien race that wishes to invade these colonies. The belligerent alien race does so by means of the same technology that the humans are experimenting with, only in their case, they have fully mastered the technology and are invading planets at a very fast rate. The aliens manage to reach the Solar System, where they proceed to successfully conquer the human colony stationed on the dwarf planet Pluto easily, as the humans were ill-prepared to defend themselves against them. These aliens conquered planets so effortlessly to the point subjugating planets have become competitive games for them.
Fearing that the other planets (including Earth) would soon be conquered, the United Space Force, an organization responsible for the colonies' space program decides to use the largely untested Hyperzone Drive in order to launch various starfighters towards the alien forces across the galaxy as a means of a counterattack. Unfortunately, the Hyperzone Drive proves to be much too unstable for the spacecrafts, resulting in nearly all of them being destroyed. Only one, the Falsion manages to successfully endure the technology's endeavor, and rush to stop the invaders before they destroy the human race despite the impossible odd it is stacked against: one lone starfighter against an entire alien armada with far advanced weaponry and numbers, no one from Earth is coming to help Falsion, and all it iakes is one hit from anything from enemy for Falsion to be reduced to space dust. Any rational human being would balk at this as insanely obvious suicide mission, but Falsion persevered.
The Falsion locates the invaders stationed on six different planets, where it plows through waves of invaders, before decimating its commanders. Eventually, after clearing the aliens on the final planet, the Falsion encounters their leader, a giant mothership called Gigantos. The two belligerents engage in a long, intense battle until finally, the Falsion succeeds and destroys Gigantos. Having completed its mission, the Falsion returns to Earth, believing that the war has finally ended. However, during the epilogue distant explosions on various planets are heard across the galaxy. Airforce Delta Strike[]
The Falsion appears in Airforce Delta Strike as part of the Konami Legacy plane collection. In-game, the craft has all-around stats and a powerful special weapon known as the Long-Ranged Air-to-Air Missile, which has high accuracy and deals heavy damage, on top of a high ammunition capacity. Its normal missile capacity is also very high too. Overall, a very reliable and efficient aircraft.
Weapons[]
The Falsion is armed with two essential weapons: a primary beam weapon and a secondary weapon in the form of homing missiles. Both are pivotal for survival.
- Beam - The Falsion's primary weapon, it fires a rapid-fire projectile that can eliminate most small enemies instantly and has unlimited ammo.
Homing Missiles - The secondary weapon of the Falsion, it fires missiles which track down nearest enemies with high accuracy. The number of homing missiles present will be depending on how many enemies there are present on-screen. Theoretically, the Falsion only has a limited supply of missiles so it must use them strategically and replenish them regularly via red power-ups but homing missiles can be stocked up to 99 missiles.
Speed Up - While technically not a weapon, speed up is crucial item to Falsion's quest to stop Gigantos fleet. This blue P item allows Falsion to move quicker. But as in many typical shoot'em up games, consuming too much of this item can make Falsion difficult to control due to being too fast.
These orange and blue P items are only two items for Falsion to obtain throughout the game, and those two items are only items Falsion would ever need.

- Contrary to popular belief, the Falsion is not related to the Falchion β from Gradius Gaiden in any way other than the similarity of the two crafts' names. This is further supported in an interview that chief developers of Gradius Gaiden denied their prior knowledge to Falsion.
