Heroic Overview

Element City is the main location in the Pixar's 27th animated film Elemental.

It is a large city populated by anthropomorphic elements related to earth, water, fire, and air. Each inhabitant of Element City has an appearance, personality, and ability unique to their element.

Background[]

Element City is a city designed to bring peace, diversity and harmony to the four elements, avoiding conflicts that may arise differently. The city has distinct ones for each element such as Fire Town for the fire people, the Water District for the water people, the Terra District for the earth people and the Breeze District for the air people. However, there are also places mixed between the elements such as Central Park, Cyclone Stadium, Elemental Hall, the cruise terminal, Element School and Nursery.

Element City is rich in culture and history, having various sites, monuments and festivals that celebrate events such as a museum rich in culture and history and achievements of each element, the Element Tower which is the tallest building in the city that has four sections representing each element and Element Day which is an annual celebration of the unity and diversity of each element.

Element City is divided into four districts such as Fire Town, Water District, Airville and Earthville. Firetown is a hot and lively district where the fire people reside such as Ember Lumen and her family, Water District is a cool and calm district where the water people reside such as Wade Ripple and his family, Airville is a windy district where the air people reside and Earth District which is a green and peaceful district where the earth people reside.

Element City also features a central area where the four elements can interact and enjoy various attractions, such as giant pine-tree-like buildings, waterfall-like skyscrapers, Elemental Park, and a tornado-shaped arena called Cyclone Stadium. The city is inspired by real-life cities around the world and incorporates the theoretical contributions of each elemental community.

The inhabitants of Element City who are connected to fire, water, earth, and air travel by car, truck, motorcycle, and also by Wetro, which spans the entire city of Element City and has stations at Cyclone Stadium, Firetown, the Water District, City Hall, residential neighborhoods, and more.

Trivia[]

  • Element City is inspired by some real cities like cities located in China such as Hong Kong, Amsterdam in the Netherlands and mainly New York City (and other US cities) in the United States.
  • Although Elemental is one of the rare Pixar films to not have antagonists, the characters living in Element City such as Burnie and Cinder Lumen (Ember Lumen's parents) are all protagonists without exceptions, it makes more sense that places seen throughout the film are more connected to good without exceptions, especially due to absences of places connected to evil.
