CS-00A Caesar is the main protagonist of the 2008 shoot 'em up Star Soldier R. It is a prototype spacecraft that was hastily built by the Joint Forces of Earth to combat the Core Brain and its forces as they prepared to invade Earth. Like many previous Caesar models, it retains its traditional arsenal, but also features an upgradable shield called the "Force".

History

In Star Date 2180, humanity has evolved substantially to the point that they have technology so advanced that they can travel across space at ultrahigh speeds. Despite continued conflicts, humanity is considered to be at the peak of its existence. Unfortunately this lifestyle would be threatened when an unknown band of robotic drones led by the Core Brain appeared in the Solar System and launches a surprise attack on mankind. In response, the Joint Forces of Earth (or JFE) retaliated by launching a counterattack, which despite being successful, merely temporarily halted the enemy's advance, forcing them to escape while they had the chance. Now with the Core Brain's forces beginning an approach towards Earth, all but doom seemed inevitable. Not relenting to defeat, the JFE scrambled to construct a powerful craft to combat the enemy dubbed CS-00A Caesar. This prototype fighter was built with a unique technology known as an Oberstein Unit, which enabled the CS-00A Caesar to be capable of traveling through interplanetary space in order to battle the Core Brain's forces. With no time to lose, the fighter was launched into space from Base Cleopatra in order to stop the impending invasion.

The fighter first travels to the Moon, where it locates an enemy space base on the natural satellite and battles several of the enemy's army before ultimately confronting their commander unofficially called the "Neo Star Brain", destroying all of them in process. Once the Moon is cleared of the enemy, CS-00A Caesar locates the main base of the Core Brain; there it battles through numerous waves of the Core Brain's forces before finally confronting the namesake leader in the flesh. After an intense battle, the fighter manages to eliminate the Core Brain, averting the invasion on Earth and saving countless lives in the process.

Weapons

Like many of the previous models, CS-00A Caesar features a default primary weapon in the form of a rapid-fire vulcan cannon that is capable of eliminating small enemies and environmental objects quickly, but require additional firepower when dealing with larger enemies and bosses. The weapon can be upgraded by means of obtaining red power-ups, which in turn increase the number of shots fired from the craft; at full power, the starfighter will be able to fire a total of five shots in a star pattern.

In addition, CS-00A Caesar is also built with a rotating shield known as the "Force", which protects the craft from incoming fire, it can be upgraded by means of blue power-ups, which increase the defensive strength of the shield. It features a unique attack, which allows it to be launched from the craft in order to destroy nearby enemies. Getting hit by enemy fire however will downgrade the primary cannon's strength by one level.
