The Blood-Scythe is the weapon of Ragna the Bloodedge.
In its sealed form, it takes the form of a sword that slowly devours the opponent's soul upon contact. The weapon in its awakened form takes the form of a scythe with a crimson energy blade that seems to be made out of seithr.
The original owner of the Blood-Scythe is Bloodedge. Celica received the weapon after his death. Nearly 100 years later, Ragna would inherit the sword from Jubei, who found it in the rubble of the burnt church.
History[]
In its default form, this weapon takes the form of a sword with a large blade – Ragna uses this form most of the time. The weapon can take a form of a scythe with a crimson blade.
Ragna inherit the sword and his red jacket from Jūbei, who took them from the rubble of the burnt church. According to Jūbei, these items belonged to Bloodedge, a hero of the Great Dark War who sacrificed himself to stop the Black Beast for a year.
During the events of BlazBlue: Chronophantasma, Rachel Alucard sent Ragna back in time to the First Great Magic War, where it turned out that he is Bloodedge. Before his first fight with the Black Beast, Ragna gave his jacket to Celica Ayatsuki Mercury, and after the fight Mitsuyoshi brought her the sword. She kept those items until her death, waiting for Ragna to come back as he promised.
It is unknown where the sword and jacket originated from, and it is also unknown where he got another sword and jacket after he left them in the past.
Before Ragna went through the Gate, he left his sword at the entrance. Later, for some reason it was back at the grave of the sister. The next time the grave was shown, the sword wasn’t there.
Trivia[]
- In early concept designs, the Blood-Scythe was identical in design to the swords that float around Mu-12, Lambda-11 and Nu-13.
- Since Bloodedge had possession of the sword because Ragna brought it with him from the future, and Ragna had possession of it by inheriting it from Bloodedge, the Blood-Scythe and their coat technically have no point of origin, and are, therefore, paradoxes. They are also technically unbreakable, or at least remarkably durable.
