The BROWN INnovatory Gunner or BROWNING for short, is the titular protagonist of the 1992 PC Engine run & gun shooter BROWNING. It is a giant mech developed to stop an evil mastermind who is plotting to conquer the world using a powerful army and a secret killing machine stationed on the fictional Sea Square Island.
History[]

In the middle of the Atlantic Ocean on a gigantic island called Sea Square Island, a sinister plot is unfolding. Guarded by a large army within a heavily guarded fortress, an evil mastermind is planning to conquer the world by developing a powerful super weapon known in-game as the "Final Weapon" that has the potential to wipe out humanity. In order to stop this apocalyptic project from being unleashed upon the globe. The Allied Forces mount a special mission without having to declare war on the island, the mission: to infiltrate the island and destroy the Final Weapon using a newly-developed weapon of their own: a giant mech called the BROWN INnovatory Gunner. One pilot is selected to manned the weapon, a man named Breed Schuyler with a promising history in combat. Breed is hesitant to take on the task, but nonetheless agrees to the mission despite expressed concern of his lover.
The following day, the BROWNING is launched onto the island, and immediately encounters heavy resistance, but thanks to Breed's skills, the mech manages to plow its way through the mastermind's forces, destroying several enemy mechs in the process. It penetrates through the fortress by traveling underground, before reaching the research facility in which the Final Weapon is being held, there after battling through the last of the island's army, a giant blast door opens, revealing the mastermind manning the now-complete Final Weapon. In an intense battle, the two mech duel it out, with the BROWNING ultimately gaining the upper hand by destroying the Final Weapon, resulting in the Mastermind being fatally wounded in the ensuing battle. Afterwards, the BROWNING escapes the crumbling fortress and looks on at its remnants, having completed its mission and saving the planet in the process. But Breed is also badly injured in his battle against the Final Weapon, and passes out shortly after his escape. His final fate is left to player's imagination.
Weapons[]
The BROWNING's only weapon is a Vulcan machine gun, which can fire at a somewhat fast rate in the direction that the mech is facing. While capable of destroying smaller enemies relatively quickly, it will need to provide a lot of firepower to tackle larger enemies as well as bosses.
The make up for its lack of weaponry, the BROWNING is highly agile. It can run, jump high, and even hover in mid-air to not only improve its combat efficiency, but also to evade incoming enemy fire.
To boost the mech's durability, a 9 level shield allows the mech to take a number of hits before being destroyed. The shield can recharge overtime, but doing so will cause the mech's temperature level to rise from Green to Yellow and finally Red, which each temperature level, the rate of the shield's recharge will slow down overtime, and it will only regenerate faster if the temperature cools down.
