Heroic Overview

Benevolent Ruler, unlike their evil counterparts, they appear to be Conquerors, lawful rulers who rebel against oppressive enemies whose authoritarian systems are harmful to them and/or their followers. They are good ruling leaders that can be just as reasonable and benevolent in their rule but hold either limited power or choose to limit their power (even if they have unlimited power)

They are honorable, virtuous, wise and understanding. They treat their subjects with respect (no matter how seemingly unimportant they are), govern the land fairly, and feel zero need to flaunt their considerable power. Benevolent rulers also tend to be soft spoken.

If the work takes place during a war, the ruler usually tends to care for the subjects. When it comes to the actual battle, they can lead the charge and are often more formidable in combat than any of his soldiers.

Above all else, the benevolent ruler cares about their kingdom and their people and will sacrifice themselves to protect them, even if that means putting honor before reason.

Any work where the ruler has been killed by an Evil Prince, The Caligula, Evil Uncle or Evil Chancellor will normally portray the deceased king as this, to serve as a contrast to the current evil regime. After the good ruler dies, he will almost inevitably be followed by a Successor. Likewise, they will rarely be the main character and often serve as The Mentor to the protagonist. If the protagonist is one of his children, they can have paternal/maternal tendencies.
